Tailor-made training

6/17/2011 8:14 AM

We had a tailor-made training in Shanghai on June 13. The training was also conducted at our offices in Shenzhen. I expected a lot for it, as I was told this is the most interesting training ever.

Hans Andersson from CROSS-WAYS, hosted this training/workshop that was mainly about differences between Asian and Western culture. Hans was so funny and so good to let all participators know & learn something new and fresh. I was a little bit shocked by the gap of our different cultures. Even for the same simple word, there can be totally different understanding. For example, if a western person says “YES”, that means she/he has promised something, and will follow up until he/she has the final result. However, when Asian guys say “YES”, it means “OK, I promise I will try, but cannot guarantee”.

And Hans let us know the different thoughts of Eastern & Western culture, and what will be the better/a more efficient way to communicate with Western people. This is very important for all of us, especially for people working in a global company like IKEA.

Everybody enjoyed this whole training, learned something we didn’t see before, I believe this will be very helpful for my future career and in my daily work.
